Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026 · Applies to houseofamaezan.org

In short

We only collect what you give us through our forms (contact, volunteer application, newsletter, donation). We never see your card or bank details — Paystack and Stripe handle those directly. We don't run analytics or ad trackers, and we don't sell your data to anyone. You can ask us to see, correct, or delete what we hold at any time.

House of Amaezan ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, why, and how it's handled. It doesn't cover data collected in person through our rehabilitation, safe space, or education programs — that's governed by our Safeguarding Policy and direct program agreements, not this website.

1. What we collect

We only collect what you choose to give us, through these forms:

  • Contact form — name, email, phone (optional), topic, and your message. This form opens your own email app and sends directly from your device to ours — it doesn't pass through our servers at all.
  • Volunteer application — name, email, phone, role/interest, and your message. This is submitted through Formspree, a third-party form-processing service, which forwards it to our email.
  • Newsletter signup — your email address, so we can send occasional updates about our programs.
  • Donations — your name, email, donation amount, and chosen payment method. Card and bank details are never seen or stored by us: Paystack (and Stripe, where enabled) handle payment data directly under their own security standards. For bank transfers, we generate a reference from your first name and amount so we can match your transfer to your donation.
  • Standard technical logs — like almost every website, our hosting providers automatically log basic technical data (IP address, browser type, page requested, timestamp) for security and performance. We don't use this to identify or track you personally.

We process personal data in line with Nigeria's Data Protection Act, 2023 (NDPA), regulated by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). Our basis for processing is straightforward: you gave us the information voluntarily, for a specific purpose (an enquiry, an application, a donation, a subscription), and we use it only for that purpose. If you're contacting us from outside Nigeria, we handle your data under this same standard.

3. Third parties involved

Depending which part of the site you use, your information may pass through:

  • Paystack / Stripe — payment processing for donations.
  • Formspree — processes volunteer application submissions.
  • Google Fonts — loads our typefaces; Google may log the request as it would for any font/CDN request.
  • Vercel / Cloudflare — our hosting and network providers, who keep standard access logs as part of normal web security and performance operations.

We don't run any analytics or advertising trackers on this site, and we don't sell or rent your information to anyone.

4. Cookies & embedded content

This site itself doesn't set tracking or advertising cookies. When you open the donate modal and choose Paystack or Stripe, their checkout runs in an embedded frame and may set its own cookies to process your payment securely — that's between you and them, governed by their own privacy policies, not something we control or receive.

5. Why we use it

Solely to respond to your enquiry, process a volunteer application, process a donation and send you a receipt/acknowledgement, or send newsletter updates you've asked for. We don't use your information for any other purpose, and we don't use it to make automated decisions about you.

6. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry, application, and donation records only as long as needed to respond, process, and maintain our own financial and program records — typically no longer than a few years, after which we delete what we no longer have a genuine reason to keep. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time (see "Your rights" below).

7. International transfers

Some of the third parties above (Paystack, Stripe, Formspree, Google, Vercel, Cloudflare) may process or store data on servers outside Nigeria. Each operates under its own recognized security and data-protection standards; we choose providers with credible international security practices.

8. How we protect it

The site is served entirely over HTTPS. We never handle or store your card or bank login details ourselves — that's the whole point of using Paystack and Stripe. Access to the information we do hold (enquiry and application emails) is limited to the people who need it to respond to you.

9. Children's data

This website's forms are intended for adults — donors, volunteers, and enquirers. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children through this website. Children and minors supported through our programs are protected under our separate Safeguarding Policy, which governs how our staff and volunteers handle their information and welfare directly.

10. Your rights & complaints

Under the NDPA, you can ask us at any time to:

  • Tell you what information we hold about you
  • Correct anything inaccurate
  • Delete your information where we have no ongoing reason to keep it
  • Withdraw consent to further contact (e.g. unsubscribe from the newsletter)

Email [email protected] and we'll respond as quickly as we can. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

11. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
